This Week’s Playbook. First practice is tomorrow and someone's Amazon cart looks like they're outfitting a small army. This week, we're breaking down what actually belongs in the bag on day one (spoiler: it's less than you think), introducing a concept called Time Literacy® that might explain why every Tuesday feels like air traffic control, and rounding up the recovery tools that separate "training hard" from "training smart.

In Partnership with Orgo

You've probably never heard the term "Time Literacy®."

But if you've ever white-knuckled a Tuesday afternoon trying to get three kids to two fields on time, you've already been doing the math.

There's a name for that stress, and understanding it might change how your whole family operates.

“That stress you feel on a packed Tuesday isn't a character flaw. It's a literacy gap.”

One Field in Uganda Changed Everything

Kids Lacrosse Africa started with one field in Jinja, Uganda.

One program. One dream.

Now it's a movement.

Here's what KLA has built:

300+ children playing, learning, and growing through lacrosse

20+ full scholarships covering school, meals, and uniforms

$50,000 invested in a permanent home with classrooms, a field, and volunteer housing

Most of the children KLA serves come from underserved families. Many struggle to feel accepted. When they first arrive, they're quiet and withdrawn.

"Our first priority is not pushing them into a new sport. It is welcoming them, listening to them, helping them feel seen, wanted, and accepted. Belonging creates safety. When children feel safe, they open up, make friends, and begin to trust the space they are in."

Andrew Mamawi, KLA Founder

That's what youth sports can look like when access isn't a given.

And every May, a small group of volunteers flies to Jinja to be part of it.

Got a story, question, or something on your mind? We'd love to hear from you.
